Rt. 1 bottleneck blues (Reprise)

I received a reminder today, driving from Quaker Bridge Mall to the Stop & Shop in Franklin Park, just how badly the South Brunswick section of the highway needs to widened. It was smooth sailing heading north through West Windsor and Plainsboro — until we hit the South Brunswick border, where volume became heavy. It's no accident, of course, that it is the spot at which three lanes narrows to two. Common sense should tell the state widening is required.

  1. My father, who died in \’93, lobbied hard for this back then. I can only imagine how much worse it\’s gotten. They actually put him on some sort of commission to study it, but no luck. Maybe with your pull with the Packet you can get the right attention to it?

  2. At the very least, they could \”slash out\” the various threes to two to thee lane partial efforts. I\’m only an EE, but it\’s obvious that it causes problems. Boomer boys rushing around the right flank to get ahead. You don\’t have to be a plumber to feel the problems in the flow!
