This is a draft of a new poem, inspired by the Knicks’ finally getting to the NBA promised land.An Ode to Joy Hope, in the end, was the six-two point guard with the big body banging in basket after basket like he was Clyde and I was seven. The fatalist in me was unready, remembering Olajuwon tapping away Starks’ game winner. At sixty-three, my lungs ache and so much is broken around us.
