Making voting more convenient

The New York Times offers a useful solution to the long lines experienced by voters in New York. I think the paper has a point and that the suggested solution — simply to allow voting to be done over a longer period of time — should be implemented nationally.

  1. How do you minimize fraud with the extended hours? Use the purple Iraqi ink. Require photo ids and photos in the voting register. Prosecute fraud with vigor and big financial and jail time; no penalty for \”innocent\” mistakes. Doesn\’t Israel vote over an entire weekend; so it\’s do-able.

  2. I like having a central location, where people can vote any time of the day or night for a week, and a local voting area that is open for part of one day at the end. There could be a day in between to move the machines and books.
