The initial polling appears to show that the public viewed Joe Biden’s performance last night as the stronger one during the debate, which is probably not good news for the McCain campaign.
The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. said 51 percent of those polled thought Biden did the best job, while 36 percent thought Palin did the best job.
But respondents said the folksy Palin was more likable, scoring 54 percent to Biden’s 36 percent. Seventy percent said Biden was more of a typical politician.
Both candidates exceeded expectations — 84 percent of the people polled said Palin did a better job than they expected, while 64 percent said Biden also exceeded expectations.
I’ll have more later — I want to give the transcript a good going-over, because I think it is important that the cliches, talking points, etc., be dissected and examined.
1. Brent Budowsky notes that what really matters is that Obama is ‘cementing’ his support, by allaying people’s remaining concerns about him and Biden.2. When Palin did not babble incoherently, it made no difference, because the things she said were unpopular and hurt the McCain-Palin ticket. So, when pundits say Palin performed well, they are saying that she effectively offended the voters! (But really she didn’t do better than in those interviews, if you ask me. I was rolling on the floor laughing at her during the debate, literally, because I was sitting on the floor watching.)
I was on the floor, laughing, screaming, gnashing my teeth, clawing at my hair, talking in tongues, projectile vomiting and throwing objects at the TV. We are the super duper power in the world and Palin is a \”serious\” choice for VP? She could become our president? Oh wait, we had a blithering, uncompassionate, unempathetic, heartless bumbling, blathering anus hole as president for the last 7 plus years. We have had Darth Vader Cheney for VP, the cherry on top of the toxic waste dump which is the Bush/Cheney regime. May the gods grant us relief from GOP misrule and bloodthirsty uncaring boobs.
