In case anyone has forgotten, the United States remains engaged intwo foreign wars and, despite the optimism over reduced violence in Iraq, there doesn't appear to be an end sight.
This basic fact got me to thinking of the toy soldiers my nephew plays with — the little green army men that I had as a kid, as well — and realized that the president and his men view American troops in Iraq as little more than toy soldiers, to be used and reused.
That's a harsh judgment, I admit, but I just don't see any human connection. It all just seems an elaborate game, but one with real consequences — to soldiers, their families and the Iraqis and Afghanis on the wrong side of our weapons.

That took a long time! 🙂 I mean, many of us have been there and further along for a long, long time.Bush, Cheney, Rice are provably guilty of murder, and they keep doing it again and again. But making matters worse is that George W. Bush himself is a sociopath who enjoys being responsible for people dying. Cheney and Rice go about their grim business grimly, but George W. Bush does it gleefully and brags about what a good time he is having. Two useful books: \”Bush on the Couch\”, and \”The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder\”.(BTW the Progressive Party candidate for AG in Vermont has announced plans to prosecute Bush for murder if she wins.)
Incidentally, regarding reduced violence, that\’s just for Iraqis. For American military personnel, the graph remains approximately a straight line: http://tinyurl.com/3tj5lsIn other words, if you look on a large enough time scale, American military personnel are being killed at a fixed rate. I\’ve been following this graph, and it has been practically straight since a short time after the occupation of Baghdad.
