I’ve held off on this, but I have to agree with library supporters: The library is too important to close.
- It is an important element of a town’s identity.
- It is a visible expression of a town’s commitment to literacy.
- It gives students access to the library outside of school hours.
Proposing its closure is foolish.

I don\’t live in Jamesburg, but I do live in a small town where many people walk to the library. The library provides so many services here, often to the lower income residents, the youngest, the oldest, and all the folks who bother to find out what those services are (sad to say, so many people never even bother.) I hope if it does come to a vote, for their own sake, the voters support their library. It\’s the kind of place that you may not miss until it\’s gone.
