Runner’s diary, Tuesday

Seven miles this morning on the treadmill in 59:28, an 8:29.7 pace. Music was the new disc by Santogold — quite good.

My right achilles is still bothering me, as is the arch on my right foot. Seems like it must be related. Anyone have any thoughts on what it might be?

Runner’s diary, Thursday

I wasn’t sure if I’d make it today — bad heartburn and nausea — but once I got on the treadmill and started going I felt better. Managed four miles in 35 and change, keeping the pace relaxed. That gives me 15 miles for the week with a goal of at least five tomorrow.

It has been one of those mornings. The dog got me up at 5:45 to let her out — well before I was ready to get up. So I went back to sleep, figuring on waking at about 7. Of course, that didn’t happen. At 8:20 Annie jumped out of bed, waking me up and beginning the mad rush of the morning.

On the way to Dow Jones, we ran into a detour, which delayed us further, meaning I didn’t get to the gym until about 9:45 and didn’t start my run until 10. I did three miles in 26:51 on a pair of sore ankles/achilles (Music: Jesse Malin, Glitter in the Gutter) then rushed to the office.

Then, once here, I learn that the space alottment for our pages is — to put it kindly — a royal mess and I’ll need to have the entire thing reconstructed.

So, to sum up: The best thing about the day so far was my run, even though I’ve got bad wheels (I think it may have to do with the work boots I’ve been wearing to cut the lawn).

Runner’s diary, Tuesday

Running the morning after a night run is not the best thing to do, I learned today. After finishing a four-mile run on the treadmill last night at about 6, my body had only 15 hours to recuperate. But I perservered, pushing four miles out of sore legs and a very tight and painful Achilles. Final time: 36:14 — slower than I like, but getting the run in was what was important.
