Runner’s dairy, Monday

The three miles I ran today were not exactly easy, but I got it in. Now I just have to get myself back to where I was about a month or so ago.

So, who ordered this weather? It already was in the 80s and as humid as a steam room when it was time to run this morning, so I stayed inside on the treadmill and worked on pushing the pace. I ran three miles in 24:33 — the fastest I’ve run in a while. I find it easier to push on the treadmill because it moves and if you don’t keep up you fall off. In any case, that makes 20 for the week after a couple of light weeks. I finished up with some leg work — balance stuff, squats, etc.

Runner’s diary, Thursday

It was a bit hot out today, but that didn’t stop me from making a four-mile trek. The issue, as always, is traffic and the aggressiveness of drivers — particularly on Ridge Road, where there are no shoulders. It was worse than usual this morning, mostly because I started out a bit earlier than usual, so I had to do a dance along the macadam’s edge, hopping from blacktop to grass and back depending on the flow of traffic. Luckily, the drivers were relatively sane this morning — unlike most days when I have to play chicken with fiery-eyed lunatics who like to bear down on anything not in something that ways two tons.
