Unofficially official. Congratulations President-elect Barack Obama.

John Lewis is on ABC talking about the long, difficult road that has brought us from the Freedom Rides and the Civil Rights Act to the precipice of an Obama presidency. It brought a tear to my eye.

If MSNBC is correctand Obama has 200 electoral votes with California, Washington, Oregon and Hawaii out there, then we may no longer be watching for an Obama win but for an Obama mandate. California, as Keith Olbermann said, is worth 55 electoral votes, Washington, 11, Hawaii four and Oregon seven. That’s 77 more electoral votes.

Does he have another 50 or 60 to win? If he wins Florida, Colorado and Nevada he is going to get pretty close.

Chris Matthews puts this election in a nutshell — John McCain lost it when he said “The fundamentals of the economy are strong” as the economy melted down. Think McCain regrets that bonehead statement?

New Mexico has been called for Obama — that’s two Bush states for Obama and no Kerry states for McCain. So far 25 electoral votes shifting to the Democrat.
