Love and contradictions

I want to state up front that some of my favorite movies have been superhero and spy films and that I love cop shows. These shows tend to have a conservative, pro-government outlook, even the best of them, but I go and revel in the spectacle.

That does not mean I can’t also be critical of their political subtexts and wish that our film culture could be more progressive, less about defense of the status quo or a pro-military ethos.

I guess I am part of the problem, but I can’t help but like Bond films and Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes

South Brunswick Patch launches Wednesday

Three days and counting. Look for South Brunswick Patch to launch Wednesday. Local Editor Davy James will be your guide — and I’ll be around as regional editor to help out.

Sorry for the light week

It’s been a light posting week, but you can blame the holiday, the triptophane, galley corrections for the book and the impending launch of South Brunswick Patch. It’s been busy.

But I’ll try to get some blogging in over the weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving and condolences to those of you bold enough — or stupid enough — to venture into the maw of Black Friday.

Light blogging, but you knew that

I’ve been on vacation, touring a bit of the South, and have only had spotty access to the Internet. Blogging has been light and likely will remain so until Monday. I’m in the Charlotte area now for a few days and hope to get a few more posts us. We’ll see.
