Speaking to the people who doubt that the promise of America would ever be fulfilled: “Tonight is your answer”

“We have never been just a collection of individuals, never been just a collection of red states and blue states. We have always been the United States of America.”

I don’t remember the last time that a presidential concession speech was over before 11:30 p.m.

John McCain may be reclaiming some of the honor he’d allowed to slip away from him during this campaign. McCain’s congratulatory speech and his supressing of the audience’s boos deserves kudos and we have to hope that this speech will be the first step to healing the wounds that were opened during this campaign.

Obama is now up to 333 electoral votes, an unheard of numbers given the narrow tactical politics of recent years, a politics designed to supress turnout.

Here comes McCain.
