Have I said how much I like Carlos Delgado?
He hits homeruns and has progressive politics — a nice combinations.

This has been tough — another tight game with the Mets giving back when they should be taking. That’s what has made this a difficult game to watch. Unlike last night, when good pitching made very swing important, this has been a sloppy game and now Carpenter maybe settling in a bit. Beltran leads off next inning, so maybe he can get it going.
Chad Bradford just needs to keep the Cards in check for now.

Lots of pitches by Chris Carpenter, which is what the Mets want. But it’s tied and the old pessimism is present — but that is a requirement of Met fandom. I have 38 years of practice at this and have seen way too much to not be a bit pessimistic.

John Maine does not have it. Third-inning blast by Jim Edmunds on a nothing pitch. When does Willie look to the bullpen?

OK, a different kind of game so far than last night, Mets getting three in the first with Jose Reyes getting off the schnide and Carlos Delgado bashing another one out.
But then the first baseman help facilitate some Cardinal scoring by misplaying a bouncer off Scott Speizio’s bat.
I like that the team has started fast against the Cards’ ace — the best starter in the National League the last two years. But it is early and John Maine is looking shaky.
