Double, double toil and trouble

Today’s column by Alfred P. Doblin, editorial page editor of The Record, pretty much sums up the corruption problem in New Jersey. It’s not just that some politicans may be on the take, but that the system has been structured to allow legislators to amass multiple jobs, creating multiple pensions, expanding their power and influence.

It’s an ugly thing that needs to be fixed.

OK. That’s 1-0.

One down.

Good hitting. Good D (that double play started by Valentin on the diving grab with Reyes coming across and making a side-armed throw was masterful). And good pitching from Glavine.

They started hitting after I got home from an Italian restaurant and realized I’d gotten sauce on my Seaver shirt. Perhaps I should get sauce on my clothing more often.

Three hours and counting

Spring officially arrives at 8:05 p.m.

Mets at Cards. Maybe seeing the Series rings distributed and the banner raised will light a fire under our Metsies, when they know they should have been the team with the rings.

(I’m wearing my Seaver jersey to get the season off right.)

Runner’s diary, Sunday

Yes, Sunday.

I managed to drag myself out of bed and knock off Three-plus miles. I messed up the GPS and timer at first, so I lost about a half mile and four-plus minutes, but managed a 29-minute 5K on the clock while listening to the vaunted iPod mix.
