In addition to what I talk about in this post, I am reading these two works.
The phrase “settler colonialism” seems fairly straightforward, and yet it is a flashpoint when it comes to the question of Israel, the Occupied territories, and the broader region that might best be called Historical Palestine.

Its basic definition is a situation in which a colonizing force invades and then displaces an indigenous people — or those who may have a historical connection to the land. It is clear, for instance, that the settling of the America’s by the European powers (England, France, Spain, Portugal) or the formation of Apartheid South Africa are prime examples.

I think it is appropriate — though a bit more complicated — in the Palestinian context, because of the identities of the settlers and the colonized and the depth of historical memory held by all involved.
