Let’s not mince words: Republicans won the debt ceiling fight.
Yes, President Joe Biden negotiated a deal that will avert default, but he did so by agreeing to forego much of his stated agenda.
Student loan freeze? Over. Sorry kids.
New funding for the IRS? Not happening — a present to corporations and the rich.
Food aid to the poor? Only if you work. And if you require Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (formerly welfare), you better hope you live in the right state.
