The obvious solution to a rising crime rate is to close down the police departments, to privatize the police and to leave it to free market laissez-faire predatory capitalism to come to the rescue. The immediate benefits would be the busting of those evil police unions and we would have more competition in police protection and it would be based on a fee for service basis. If you call 911 for a life or death emergency you would first have to give your credit card number or have paid monthly or yearly fees. See how fair that is? We would have charter police departments or voucher police departments the way they do with the public schools alongside the private police departments, like the Pinkertons. What could possibly go wrong? (sarcasm alert)
