Sunday-afternoon barbecue and beer

The burgers — beef, turkey and salmon — are on the grill, the hot dogs will follow. In the meantime, a nice clearance brew that I found at Joe Canal yesterday, a tasty “Barleywine-style” ale called Criminally Bad Elf. Strong, almost fruity flavor with a bite; the taste resemble a Scotch ale, but a tad sweeter. I’d certainly recommend it.

  1. You have me curious about the \”Criminally Bad Elf.\” It's a style of beer I've not every really explored. I'm glad you say it has a bite though; I've tasted ales that are simply sweet before, and I don't care much for that, being an expat Brit who enjoys that hoppy bite.I see, by checking http://beeradvocate.com (I really recommend this site, btw. Lots of reviews of beers that are accessible if you register – for free)that this is in fact a British brew! Hope you're not over-chilling it, otherwise you'll be losing a lot of flavor.
