I’m watching Rachel Maddow with guest host Ariana Huffington and I have to say she’s no Rachel Maddow. In fact, she isn’t much of a host at all — monotonous and sometimes stilted, often making it obvious that she’s reading off a teleprompter or cards (and if she’s not, then that says even more about her delivery). It’s not the accent — there have been flashes of ease and charisma — but none of the fire that characterizes her best columns or her famous liberal blog is evident in her performance tonight.
