Election Night blogging 13

Barack Obama’s intelligence always come through in his speeches. And what I find compelling is his commitment to unity, his stance that he is the president of all, that he will be the president of all and will work to earn their respect. That is an amazing sentiment coming on the heels of a tough and sometimes ugly campaign.

  1. Well, we\’ll see how he governs. He was hard left in the primary to outlflank Clinton. Then, hard to the center to appeal to the middle. Now back to the left with socialism? Let\’s see if everyone likes the \”change\” that they voted for. The media crowned him; we\’ll see how long that love affair lasts. Some wag once said that the country is stronger than any politician. (Meaning it can stand a lot of mistakes.) We\’ll see. If you don\’t like what you got, can\’t blame the libertarians for it; we voted for Ron Paul.

  2. President Obama sounds good to me. He won by a very decent margin. He has a mandate to enact all his progressive policies. HURRAH, HURRAH, HURRAH! We need universal health care now.

  3. OK, you\’re happy. Do you really think you\’re going to get \”universal health care\”? You didn\’t really believe all the things these people promised. Now did you? We have Universal Health Care. You take care of yoru own health. What you want is to socialize the cost of what Health Care you want. Look at the VA, Medicare, and Medicaid. Is that what you want? I\’d be very careful what you ask for, you might get it. I\’d be happy if they just change the tax deductiblity of health care insurance to individuals. (It\’s deductible to employers but not to individuals. It\’s the corruption of WW2 wage price controls. It\’s a the first step to decoupling health insurance from employment.) Remember the first act of every President is to renege on all their campaign promises.
